This Month's Playlist

Yo There my musically inclined compadres!!!

It's me, the effervescent and wise (crackin') Linda Leigh/L3 :) Hope yer all doin' well this crazy winter!

EXCITING NEWS!!!!! I'll be programming and mixing for a new VHQ (Very High Quality) Internet Radio technology provider (Not Real Audio!)....So, I'm gonna be breaking a LOT of new music. Would you like me to consider your release(s) for play either on the internet, my college radio show (T.Y.M.E. on WTSR 91.3 sundays 9p-12mn) or play-out gigs (where those all-important Trainspotters hang out) or all of the above?! Well, send them on over! My contact info is at the bottom of this e-mail :-)

Well, the January releases didn't slow down as much as they have the previous 2-3 years! and the assortment and amount of all the genres of dance is increasing, along with lots of musicians in the rock/pop world such as U2 looking to the 'new dance sensibilities' for inspiration in these drier sale days.

So I was right, things are feelin a bit happier! Everybody is jumpin back on the Techno bandwagon again...it's all over Newsweek, The Wall Street Jounal, and even the local Sunday papers for goodness sake!...Electronica is the new Buzzword in the industry...Amp on MTV isn't half bad, and I'm sorta able to tolerate Tricky a bit. But you all know, my heart is in the innovative beats of the underground...so, you know the score on the playlist, if I feel a rekkid is good enough, it'll cop a spot of honor!

As Febuarary rolls along, momentum is picking up quickly, and the new releases are pouring out.....Jungle remains fairly steady, Goa Trance is doing its share, Hardcore techno is going real strong (and is one of my specialties), Freakbeat and the Orlando sound is booming, Tribal beats are popular and Lounge stuff continues to flood the Martini Bars which are oh so so now....and of course, The Chemical Bros are having a heyday along with Underworld and Prodigy - I say, they deserve it!

'til next month, Peace, Love and Hard Beatz
-L3
